LAHfords

 LAHFords ( Latitude Adapted Herefords)

Why LAHfords?

We started our Braford Stud in 2020 with Nungil Chanel , a Carinya blood female & later on that year purchased a line of unjoined heifers from “Little Valley” Braford Stud. We also purchased a cow with bull bull calf at the Riverton Dispersal and another heifer from Carinya stud. We went for cattle with proven pedigrees.

We are keeping a pure line of Brafords going. We have had tremendous results joining a Hereford bull over these females and our aim is to standardize a distinct type.

The ability to do in these cattle is outstanding. They have good clean skins, are more heat tolerant and yet our cold winters don’t seem to worry them. We think they will offer Bos Indicus breeders a bit more fertility and the ability to finish quicker and grade high in MSA.

It is only early days yet, but we are very impressed with this first cross. Our aim is to source the best Braford genetics. I think the Braford breed offers an untapped potential for whiteface breeders.
